Amy and Drew’s wedding day was nothing but impromptu celebration! All day long, the surprises and spontaneity kept rolling in along with the August clouds. Gratefully, I was in on a few of the secrets…  😉

Now, for all of you dog lovers out there, perk those ears. Drew, our affectionate and outgoing groom, wanted to surprise his bride-to-be at the top of the Vail gondola on the Vail Wedding Deck with their fur baby. Amy, our sweet and gorgeous bride, arrived at the mountaintop in her cream laced gown. She was expecting her man to be there alone but alongside him was man’s (and woman’s) best friend, Big Al (aka Allie)! With the help of his groomsmen, Drew was able to get Big Al (sweetest face ever) to the peak for their first look. I mean, how can you leave out a prominent member of this family out of the first look?!

After the furry surprise, the bridal party joined them at the top for portraits.

This crew was so prompt and awesome that we ended up having extra chill time before the big moment. So, we gondola’d down for a last-minute rendezvous over drinks in the Summer sun.

Note to couples: Plan enough time for impromptu drinks and relaxing in the sun before the ceremony. You, your fiancée, and your bridal party will thank you!

When it was go-time, Amy and Drew got hitched at the Donovan Pavilion in Vail.

The fun didn’t end there. Amy and Drew had another surprise up their – well his -sleeves during the reception. When it was time for their first dance, these two killed it with a choreographed dance. The guests cheered the newlyweds on as they performed for them.

And the night wasn’t without a little limbo action!

And a little singing and hugging 🙂

Now a little Q&A with the couple:

When and how did you two meet?

We met the most romantic way possible – online! 🙂

What is your favorite thing about each other?

Amy loves Drew’s loyalty and sense of humor.

Drew loves that Amy has far superior intelligence than he does. And her sense of humor. 🙂

How did he propose?

Along Clear Creek in Golden. It involved an easel and a painting by his Dad. Amy thought it was embarrassing! Drew now admits he went a bit overboard, but in his head it was the best laid plan.

How did you choose your venue for your day?

We love the mountains and we knew we wanted to get married outside. We also had a lot of people coming in from out of town who had only been to Denver, so we wanted to share our love for the mountains with them. We chose the Donovan Pavilion before Amy even stepped inside. We loved that it was on the creek and the natural beauty of the venue.

What was the inspiration behind your wedding day?

We wanted to keep things laid back but also organized. We wanted a fun party with great food, music and booze! And dancing, lots of dancing.

What is one thing you wish you had done for your wedding day?

I wouldn’t change a thing! Best day ever.

What was your favorite moment of your wedding day?

It’s so hard to pick just one. We loved celebrating with our favorite people in the world and could feel the love coming back at us. We also loved that our beloved dog Allie was able to share in the day.

Any advice for future couples about planning for their wedding?

Try not to stress too much! Choose your photographer, DJ and caterer early on and the rest falls into place. And remember to stop for a few minutes and really take in the day – it goes by so fast!
