Working in weddings, you tend to work with a lot of other artists! Planners, Bakers, Florists, Calligraphers, DJ’s, Hair and Makeup Artists…
We would like to feature some of them in our new Artist Series! Vendors which we believe show an elite work ethic, display amazing art, and have beautiful personalities.
Our first Artist in this series? Everyone put your hands together for:
Lindsay, the owner of Fairytale Floral!
We asked Lindsay a few questions:
Tell me a little about yourself and your art!
Hi I’m Lindsay, owner and lead designer of Fairytale Floral! I got my start designing arrangements for a high end restaurant in high school and from there decided to get a bachelor’s degree in Floriculture as well as my Floral Design Certificate. Fairytale Floral is now 3 years old and thriving! We pride ourselves on our whimsical botanical style and design floral for weddings, events and even everyday occasions.
What is something fun about yourself that people may not know?
I love music and LOVE to dance! When I was younger I danced in ballet, hip hop and jazz and have always been motivated by music.
What do you aim to say with your work?
My goal is to make my clients visions come to life while staying true to my whimsical and unique style.
What is your favorite flower(s)?
Ooh such a tough one!! Here are a few of my faves- daffodils, water lilies, dahlias, wartaw protea, lilacs and hibiscus
What is your favorite flower(s)?
My Aunt Patti sparked my love of plants and nature from a very young age. She was the most creative person I have ever met and had an amazing garden. Her legacy lives on in my business and in each and every design I create
What is your background in your trade?
I do have a bachelor’s degree in Floriculture as well as a Floral Design Certificate. In addition I have worked in every possible position a flower shop has to offer, including Production Manager for two years.
How have you developed your career over the years?
I started very small only picking up small weddings and orders on the side of my full time job. As my skills grew I started booking more and more and eventually couldn’t swing my full time schedule with my new clients! I knew that if I wanted to give these clients my all I couldn’t continue working full time, so after 3 years I decided to make the jump and hit the ground running as a small business owner.
Which current art trends are you following?
In the floral world at the moment bleached foliage is huge right now! It adds such a fun and interesting texture and color to our designs.
What is your favorite thing about what you do?
My favorite part about my job is getting to deliver the bouquets to Bride’s! I love seeing their eyes light up and realize that they are about to marry the loves of their lives.
Any advice for future couples about planning for their wedding?
My advice for anyone planning a wedding would be to stay true to yourselves and your personal vision. People often will push their ideas and opinions on you based on what they did or how things are traditionally done, when none of that really matters- just you two do!
